Temperatures of between freezing and 5°C really are rather chilly, so some heavy woollens or similar are a good idea for those visiting in the winter. As elsewhere in the region, the monsoons bring heavy rain and plenty of wind, so some good weatherproof clothing is recommended. For visiting in the summer, bear in mind that Ooty weather rarely gets hotter than 25°C and the evenings can be a little cool, so a light jacket or shawl is a good idea.
